About us

Mudanjiang Normal University (MNU) is a provincial university with the oldest history, largest scale and strongest comprehensive academic potential in the southeastern area of Heilongjiang Province. It is the research center for both teacher education and basic education, and also the training center for continuing education.MNU allows students to graduate with Bachelors and Masters degrees.
 
MNU, established 50 years ago, is located in beautiful Mudanjiang, one of the nation’s outstanding tourist attractions. It is also one of the first normal universities with degree authorizations approved by the State Council of China. In October 2001, it successfully achieved Undergraduate education certification of the Ministry of Education of PRC (MOE). In January 2006, it was granted Master’s degree authorization.
 
With 1.05 million total square meters and only 0.36 million square meters of buildings, it is a provincial garden-style university. Its students are recruited throughout China. This university has 18 education organizations in total, including 16 departments, one international education school (IES) and one continuing education college (CEC). It has 38 undergraduate majors, including 18 teacher education majors and 20 non-teacher education majors covering 8 subjects. In addition, it has a state major, four provincial level key majors, five Master’s degree programs, two provincial level key subjects, a provincial level key lab, two provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers and 10 provincial level excellent courses. Generally, it has more than 16,000 full-time students including junior college students, undergraduate students and Master’s degree students, and 2,880 registered adult education students.
 
Presently, the university’s faculty amounts to 1,151 teachers and administrative staff, including 730 full-time teachers, with 312 full/associate professors. There are 339 teachers having Doctor’s (PHD) or Master’s degrees, five teachers obtaining the special allowance provided by the State Council and the provincial government, seven state level & provincial level or department level prominent teachers, including two state level prominent teachers.
 
MNU has constantly strengthened scientific & technological cooperation and exchanges with foreign universities and colleges. Through academic exchanges, exchange visits of scholars, cooperative education and training, exchanges of students, and many other cooperative efforts, it has established the inter-school cooperation with dozens of universities and colleges in Russia, Australia, South Korea, UK, Japan and other countries. Moreover, a number of renowned scholars from overseas are employed as our school’s part-time professors or specially-appointed professors.
